Pakistan U-19 set the target of 132 in ICC U-19 WC final

TOP NEWS

DUBAI: Pakistan Under 19s scored only 131 runs in the final of ICC Under-19 World Cup on Saturday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, ARY News reported.

Pakistan after winning the toss elected to bat first.

Top order of Pakistan U-19 wasn’t able to show their ability and the batting order collapsed to 7-77.

Sami Aslam scored 16, Imam-ul-Haq 12 and Hassan Raza (2) made 15 run.

With the back to back dismissals, it seemed difficult for Pakistan to reach even 100,  but some handy contribution from tail enders allow them to score 131 before getting all out in 45th over.

Zafar Gohar posted 22 while Amad Butt was the top scorer from Pakistan with unbeaten 37.

South Africa have never won an U-19 World Cup and their only world title remains the ICC knockout in 1998 in Bangladesh. Having not dropped a single game so far, a defeat in the final will bring up the dreaded 'chokers' tag.

On the other hand Pakistan have claimed the title twice in 2004 and 2006.
