TOP NEWS

FO spokeswoman Tasneem Aslam, in a statement, said that Pakistan welcomes the decision of ending the airstrikes in Yemen. She added that the ceasefire will help the countries in finding a solution to the crisis.

It should be noted that Saudi Arabia led coalition forces announced a ceasefire after carrying out airstrikes for nearly a month which left around 900 people dead.

Saudi Arabia had also requested Pakistan to join its military coalition in Yemen against the Houthis but the request was turned down after a resolution was passed in the National Assembly urging the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to stay out of the conflict.

Saudi Arabia has said that the decision of ceasefire was made on the request of Yemen government headed by President Mansoor Hadi.

Political activities have also resumed in the country after the airstrikes ended.
