PROVIDENCE, Guyana: Pakistan and West Indies will play the third and final ODI at National Stadium in Providence today (Tuesday). The ODI series has been level at 1-1 between them.
Pakistan have managed to keep the three-match series alive after 74-run win in the second One-Day International (ODI). The win on Sunday set the stage for a final to decide the series.
In the second game, Babar Azam scored his 5th ODI hundred — 4th against West Indies. He was supported by Imad Wasim, who struck an unbeaten 43 to allow Pakistan to finish at 282 for 5 in 50 overs.
Hasan Ali claimed a 5-wicket haul to rattle the batting line-up of the hosts. On a batting-friendly wicket at the Providence Stadium, West Indies could manage a mere 5 wickets. Shannon Gabriel claimed 2 for 50.
Pressure is slightly more on the hosts than Pakistan going into the decider as a victory will not only give them a series win, but also better their chances of achieving an automatic qualification for the 2019 World Cup.
According to the ICC’s ODI Team Rankings Predictor: A win for West Indies will get them up to 85 points and Pakistan down by one point to 88. A Pakistan victory will see them climb to 90 points while West Indies will slip considerably, to 82 points.
The match will start at 6:30pm according to the Pakistan Standard Time (PST).
