DHAKA: Pakistan Women defeated Bangladesh Women in the first Twenty20 match of the series by 13 runs at Dhaka on Saturday, ARY News reports.
The Pakistan Women’s side won the toss and chose to bat first.
Pakistan’s opener Javeria Khan was the top scorer for the side with 58 runs from 55 balls. Bismah Maroof made 39 runs to take the team to 126 runs in the 20 overs.
Bangladesh Women just managed to dismiss just three batswomen. Jahanara Alam, Lata Mondal, Panna Ghosh dismissed one player each.
In reply, the Bangladesh Women side fell short of 13 runs as they team was back in the pavilion after scoring 113 runs. Fargana Hoque was the top scorer with 35 runs from 40 balls. Shamima Sultana contributed 18 runs from 21 balls whereas Rumana Ahmed made 16 runs from 22 deliveries.
Asmavia Iqbal took two wickets from Pakistan Women’s team whereas Sania Khan, Sana Mir, Anam Amin took one wicket in the match.
Javeria Khan was named Player of the Match for her half century.
The second match of the series will be played on 15th March at Cox’s Bazar in Dhaka.
