Pakistani activist honoured with Global Citizens awards in US
Ms Fatima works for the betterment of bonded labor in Pakistan as the elected general secretary of the Bonded Labour Liberation Front Pakistan (BLLF), said a statement of Clinton Global Citizen Awards.
“As general secretary, Fatima strengthens organizational capacity and drives a proactive approach toward policy. She has represented BLLF at various national and international forums, including the World Social Forum (WSF) 2006 in Pakistan and WSF 2007 in Nairobi, International Visitors Program USA, and the Asian Women Alliance for Women’s Rights.”
It said Fatima is a member of the Provincial Committee for Abolition of Bonded Labour Punjab and of the District Vigilance Committee in the 12th district of Pakistan. Recognized for her work by millions of Humans of New York fans, she advocates for the compliance of the International Labour Organization’s core labor standards in Pakistan. Fatima advocates for the legal entitlements of the neglected working class brick kiln workers, as well as female domestic and home-based workers.
