Pakistan’s first batch of humanitarian assistance reaches Tajikistan: FO

ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan on Thursday sent first batch of humanitarian assistance for the earthquake-affected people of Tajikistan, which was received by Ambassador Tariq Iqbal Soomro, the Foreign Office (FO) said in a statement.

The first batch of relief assistance is part of the one million dollar humanitarian assistance comprising wheat, winterized kits and tents announced by the Government of Pakistan for the affectees of December 7 earthquake in Gorno-Badakshan region of Tajikistan.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, the deputy minister of Tajikistan thanked the Pakistani government and the people for this gift and said that Tajikistan greatly valued its friendship with Pakistan.
