KARACHI: Pakistan's wheat production increased by 3.5 per cent during the current fiscal year, ARY News reported.
The target production for the current fiscal year was set at 25 million tons.
According to Ministry of National Food Security and Research officials, Farmers have sown wheat over an area of little over 8.82 million hectares this year.
He informed that in Rabi season cultivation of wheat in Punjab will be conducted at an area of 6.9 million hectares, which is two per cent more as compare to previous year.
Similarly in the province of Sindh wheat cultivation target has been set to 11 million hectares with an increase of 4 per cent while in Khyber PakhtunKhwa wheat will be cultivated at an area of 0.749 million hectares.
Officials have said that it is expected that recent rains will have a positive impact on wheat crop production and prospects of improvement are bright.
