Passenger arrested after smuggling attempt foiled at Lahore airport

LAHORE: The Airport Security Force (ASF) on Saturday arrest a passenger who attempted to smuggle contraband at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, ARY News reported. 

The passenger named Naeem hailed from Sargodha who attempted to smuggle heroin worth Rs.25 million to Saudi Arabia. He was expected to board a Qatar Airways flight QR-621 which was scheduled to embark to Jeddah via Doha, Qatar.

The suspect had hid two capsules in orange peels, which raised suspicion and he was arrested by the ASF. He was handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force who moved him to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.

In January, a passenger was arrested from the Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad while attempting to smuggle 1.7 kilograms heroin to Saudi Arabia. In a separate incident a man named Kashif  Shahazad was arrested on January 2 while attempting to smuggle over seven kilograms to Jeddah.
