Past government turned Railways into scrap yard: Saad Rafiq
KARACHI: Federal Minister for Railways, Khwaja Saad Rafiq has said that the Railways was turned into a scrap yard during the tenure of the former government, while the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been forwarded 16 different cases about corruption and land encroachment – ARY News reports.
Addressing the traders at Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Saad Rafiq told that Railways will not be privatized despite inappropriate conditions.
He told that 28 damaged locomotives have been repaired at the Railways Workshop.
The Minister told that Pakistan Railways can be made a profitable institution by running goods train. He added that the Railways’ lands are being grabbed by political and influential figures, which will be freed soon.
He elaborated that after taking over the ministry, Railways earned additional 72 crore rupees of profit.
Speaking about Karachi Circular Railway, Saad stated that all the political parties here will be taken into confidence before commencing the circular railways.
