Past govt created artificial stability in dollar’s price: FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: Criticizing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government’s economic policies, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi here on Thursday said that the former government had created artificial stability in dollar’s price.

Talking to journalists, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the PML-N government had left behind Rs128bn circular debt and added that no reforms had been brought for last 10 years to strengthen economy. The minister said that no doubt that inflation rose in the country as dollar shot up.

He said that growth rate decreased due to the wrong policies adopted by the past governments during the last 10 years.

The minister said that the former governments had brought the Pakistan’s economy on the verge of collapse and added that in this situation the current government had to take some unpopular decisions.

He said that PTI government would have to take some more tough decisions to put the economy on the right tract.

Rejecting the reports of grouping in PTI, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that disagreements were the beauty of democracy.
