“I am thankful to Mudassar Nazar for his alacrity to make national cricket alive by abandoning lucrative job of International Cricket Council (ICC),” he said while addressing media at Nawab Bugti Cricket Stadium during his Quetta tour.

Mudassar Nazar has been head of cricket development of ICC Academy.

The chairman PCB also announced to hold inter-schools cricket tournament in each district of Balochistan and said Balochistan, FATA and Azad Kashmir were being brought into mainstream national cricket.

“New talent will be dug out from cadet colleges, private educational institutes and universities across the country,” he said.

He also expressed fear that as a result of Zarb-e-Azb Operation terrorists were finding soft targets and cricket grounds could be soft target for them.

While acknowledging practice of nepotism by PCB selection committees in the past, Shahryar Khan said violation of merit would be restrained.

To a query, he said the practice of putting every responsibility on chairman PCB was not right. The board has formed working bodies at every city and district level who were autonomous and independent to work.

The chairman PCB said the provincial governments should provide cricket grounds and PCB would itself carry out renovation work on them.
