Peace at LoC is in interest of both Pakistan and India: FO

At his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah peace and tranquillity on line and control (LoC) and working boundary is in interest of both Pakistan and India.

When asked whether the recent ceasefire violations have any adverse impact on the upcoming meetings, the spokesperson pointed out that ceasefire violation took place in the past also but despite that both sides met from time to time.

He said Pakistan is committed to the decisions announced at the UFA meeting.

He expressed confidence that the Ufa meeting will help create the condition for both Pakistan and India to engage in sustained dialogue for resolution of outstanding disputes.

To a question about Kashmir dispute, the spokesperson said there are United Nations Security Council’s resolutions on this disputed territory.

He said it was agreed at the Ufa meeting that peace and development is the collective responsibility of both Pakistan and India.

To a question about Pakistan-Russia cooperation, the spokesperson said the two countries are deeply engaged in finalizing different projects.

To a question, the spokesperson said Pakistan has welcomed the Iranian nuclear deal.

Answering a question about Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with the Saudi King, the spokesperson said the prime minister held meeting with the Saudi King on Sunday in which bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interests were discussed.
