Peace prerequisite for economic development: PM Sharif
BEIJING: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said peace and stability was prerequisite for economic development in the country, ARY News reported Thursday.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of 3-day investment forum in China's southern island of Hainan, the prime minister said communication channels need to be strengthened to enhance regional cooperation.
Mr. Sharif said developed countries must transfer their technology to under-developed countries.
He said priority should be given to resolve conflicts [of any kind]. “We are providing attractive opportunities for investment in Pakstan,” he stated. He added that Pakistan was proud of its friendship with China.
Reuters adds: Prime Minister of China Li Keqiang said his country will not take any forceful stimulus measures to counter short-term fluctuations in its economic growth. He stressed that authorities had flexibility in achieving the 2014 growth target.
Sustaining healthy growth in China's labour market is most important for the government, Li told the forum. Whether China's annual economic growth comes in slightly above or below a targeted 7.5 percent is less important in comparison, he said.
