Peace talk process with Taliban is supported by Army, says defence minister

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khwaja Asif has negotiation process between the government and the Taliban enjoy support of the army, ARY News reported.

Speaking during an ARY program ‘Off The Record’on Wednesday, Mr. Asif claimed that ex-president Pervez Musharraf was ready to seek amnesty to leave the country.

To a question, the defence minister said intelligence agencies were backing the peace talk process between the Taliban and the government. Army has its own role in peace talks, he added.

He also criticized Jamaat-e-Islami during his talk, saying the JI leadership was in crisis.
