PEMRA COC holds secret meeting on blasphemy issue

LAHORE: A meeting of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Council of Complaint (COC) was held here on Friday, to decide on a possible outcome of blasphemy issue regarding Geo TV, on May 28, meanwhile dozens of leaders and workers of religious parties gathered outside the PERMRA office and raised slogans against the Geo TV Network – ARY News reports.

According to details, COC members held the meeting at the PEMRA office located at Abid Majeed Road, to ponder upon the strategy to take an action on the complaints received against Geo TV.

The COC meeting was kept secret; however dozens of leaders and workers of different religious parties gathered outside the office and raised slogans demanding for a strict action against the ones, who committed blasphemy of the sacred personalities.

They also warned the Government to refrain from saving the ones who committed blasphemy and not to support them, or else all the religious parties and the people of Pakistan will resort to countrywide protests.

On this occasion, some emotional workers tried to break into the PEMRA office, yet they were tackled by insuring that a strict action will certainly be taken against those responsible of the blasphemous incident.
