Pemra holds meeting to discuss ARY News

TOP NEWS

A meeting was held at Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) headquarters to discuss possible gag on ARY News, yet again.

About meeting proceedings, ARY counsel Barrister Ayan said he was repeatedly interrupted while giving legal explanation on the matter today.

He told that Pervez Rathore’s authority is itself controversial, how he could be present in the meeting, asked the Barrister.

It seemed as if Pemra members were not convinced to listen our explanation and points, he added. Barrister Ayan said, “We were not told of charges levelled against us.”

He maintained that no clear charge was imposed on ARY News in a show-cause notice served by Pemra.

The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ)  has again condemned the decision. PFUJ vowed that it will protect freedom of speech and stands firm with ARY Network.

Sources told that Pemra is contemplating to impose 15-day ban on ARY News.
