Peshawar: Cop deployed for security of polio team killed in blast
PESHAWAR: A policeman deputed for security of polio team was killed and another injured when a roadside planted bomb exploded here, ARY News reported on Sunday.
Police said the injured and martyred cops were deployed for security of ongoing anti-polio drive ‘Sehat Ka Insaf’. The incident occurred near Charsadda Road. Police and rescue teams immediately reached the spot and shifted the injured cop to the Lady Reading Hospital.
Police van was also damaged in the blast. Soon after the incident, Section-144 was imposed in the city, with enforcement of ban on pillion riding across the city.
The city administration had also issued red alert in the wake of blast.
