PK-661 crash: Rs 0.5million compensation given to families of slain PIA staff

KARACHI: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pakistan International Airline (PIA) Bernd Hildenbrand visited families of the airline staff which lost its life in the PK-661 crash.

The national flag carrier’s CEO offered condolences and presented Rs0.5 million cash to each of the bereaved family 

He, however, maintained that no amount of money can compensate for the loss of human life.

He visited the residences of PIA officials who lost their lives in the tragic crash of PK-661 and offered heartfelt condolences.

The residences the PIA CEO visited include that of Airhostess, Ms Asma Adil, Capt Saleh Yar Janjua, First Officer Aaly Akram, Aircraft Engineer Asim Waqas and First Officer Ahmed Janjua.

“This amount is only to meet funeral expenses and will be followed by a comprehensive compensation package as per law,” he said.

He was accompanied by Chief Operating Officer Capt Qasim Hayat, Director Safety Capt. Naveed Aziz and Director Vigilance Brig (retd) Mohammad Asif.

A PIA plane carrying 47 people crashed Wednesday and burst into flames killing everyone on board including known religious figure Junaid Jamshed and six PIA officials.
