KARACHI:  Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Thursday started flight operation to Salalah, Oman.

However, the inaugural flight PK-235 which was scheduled to depart from Lahore  12:30 PM was delayed and several other flights also faced disruptions.

The flight was delayed for 45 minutes but later flew with only 85 passengers on board. Senior PIA officials saw off the passengers traveling on this inaugural flight.

Flight PK-229 from Lahore to Muscat was cancelled, whereas domestic flight Lahore to Islamabad was also cancelled before departure.

The flights on Lahore-Salalah-Lahore sector would be operated twice a week every Thursday and Sunday.

PIA is already operating to Muscat and has added this twice weekly flight to Salalah. The national carrier is striving to facilitate its passengers and this will boost the link between the two countries and within the region.

Expressing his views on the occasion CEO PIA Mr. Bernd Hildenbrand said that PIA is expanding its fleet and flight operation on profitable routes is being increased especially to places where expatriate Pakistani community lives.
