Pilot housing project to be launched from Faisalabad: Mehmoodur Rasheed

FAISALABAD: Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed on Friday said reiterated the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s resolve to provide low cost housing to the people of Pakistan.

Chairing a high level meeting of Punjab Housing And Town Planning Agency (PHATA) here at the committee room of Housing Department, the minister said that a pilot project in this regard is being started from Faisalabad which will soon be replicated in other cities of Punjab.

Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed directed the officials to visit the land designated for the pilot project and prepare a briefing so that a layout for the project could be finalized in consultation with construction experts.

This pilot project is planned to be built at Makuwana Road, adjacent to Faisalabad to Jaranwala Road.

Land for this project measuring 655 Kanals has already been acquired by Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC).

Options to construct one, three and seven-storey buildings are under discussion and final decision regarding which will be made in consultation with the experts.

He further said that a similar project covering 1664 Kanals will be undertaken in Sialkot upon successful inauguration of this pilot project in Faisalabad.

Mian Mehmood Ur Rasheed further said that in order circumvent the legal complexities and red tapism, centre and provinces will work hand in hand.

An authority will also be established for this purpose which will be headed by Prime Minister himself. Provincial heads of the authority will be decided later on. In order to follow a lean timeline and to save valuable resources, one window cells will be established.
