ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has arrived in Turkey to attend the extraordinary summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Al-Quds (Jerusalem) being held on Wednesday.

Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif is also accompanying the prime minister. The summit will discuss the recent US decision to shift its embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem. The OIC leaders will also explore ways to deal with the situation.

World powers have already said the US move will impede peace efforts in the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict as anger spreads across the region. The announcement by US President Donald Trump on December 6 regarding Jerusalem was a dangerous violation of international law.

The prime minister Abbasi will convey the sentiments of the people and the government of Pakistan of the unequivocal support to the people of Palestine.

The summit will be preceded by the Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting which will be attended by Khawaja Muhammad Asif.
