PM Abbasi calls on CJP at Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday called on Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar and assured him of providing all resources to judiciary in order to enable it to provide speedy and inexpensive justice to people of the country, ARY News reported.

According to a statement released by the apex court, the meeting, arranged on the request of PM Abbasi, was held in the chambers of Chief Justice of Pakistan.

“Prime Minister showed keen interest in providing all possible assistance in revamping the judicial system of Pakistan as visualized by the Honourable Chief Justice,” reads the statement issued by Supreme Court’s Public Relation Officer.

The PM assured chief justice that “all steps will be taken” to materialise the vision of the chief justice with respect to free education, public health, improvements in the government hospitals and provision of quality and affordable health services, revamping the medical education especially in private medical colleges, provision of clean drinking water, better sanitation and protection of environment.

The chief justice, on the other hand assured the PM that the judiciary will continue to perform its constitutional duties independently, fairly, transparently, without fear or favour and strictly in accordance with law.

Sources privy to the development said that the meeting was almost two hours long.
