KARACHI: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Sunday expressed satisfaction over operation preparedness and professional capabilities of Pakistan Navy.

He witnessed the exercises of Pakistan Navy along with Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi here today.

Speaking on the occasion, the premier said the navy is fully prepared to safeguard maritime interests of the country, including Gwadar Port and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

A day earlier, addressing 108th Midshipmen and 17th Short Services Commission Course passing out parade at Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi, he said Pakistan believed in peaceful co-existence and desired peace and prosperity in the region, but this desire must not be misconstrued as our weakness.

Abbasi said the navy is playing a vital role in making the country’s seaward defence invincible. “Pakistan Navy is determined and vigilant to safeguard Pakistan’s maritime interests in the face of any threat,” he added.

He said that military operations – Operation Radd-ul-Fassad and Zarb-e-Azab – were testament to the country’s resolve to root out terrorism from its soil. “These are manifestations of our resolve and the commitment to purge Pakistan of the scourge of terrorism.”

He advised cadets to serve the nation and Pakistan Navy with devotion and commitment.
