LAHORE: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi returned back home from London on Tuesday morning.
Abbasi had traveled to London to meet ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and attend a top-level party huddle to discuss party affairs in the wake of reports of rifts within the ranks of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N). The meeting was also attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who is still in London.
Sharif after deliberations with his younger brother and PM Abbasi rejected reports of friction within the party and categorically stated that minus-Nawaz formula would not be accepted.
Sources said the meeting decided that any attempt aimed at executing minus-Nawaz formula or any action in contrast to the constitution would not be acceptable to the party leaders and workers.
Ex-PM Sharif along with his son Hussain arrived in British capital from Jeddah late Sunday to chair the meeting. The PML-N top brass including PM Abbasi and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif flew to London on Sunday.
Nawaz is likely to return to the country before November 3 when an accountability court will hear corruption references against him and members of his family. At the previous hearing, it had issued bailable arrest warrants for his arrest in two references.
The arrest warrants for Sharif were issued in Aziza Steel Mills and Flagship Investment Ltd references following his indictment in three graft cases.
