PM chairs meeting to review earthquake relief, rescue operations

Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will brief the high level meeting about the damages caused by the calamity and measures taken by the national and provincial authorities for rescue and relief of the quake-hit people.

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmad, federal ministers and other top officials will attend the meeting.

FWO clears 27 landslides on Karakoram Highway

Frontier Works Organization (FWO) has cleared 27 out of 45 landslides triggered by earthquake at Karakoram Highway and it is continuing efforts to clear the remaining areas, ISPR said in a statement.

Director General FWO is personally monitoring the work at Karakoram Highway.

Two helicopters have been deployed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan to oversee the rescue and relief activities in addition to ground teams.

Rescue teams are continuing their work in Gilgit Baltistan while the capacity of all CMHs across country have been enhanced for the treatment of the injured of the quake, the statement added.
