PM declares energy crisis as result of bad policies of past

ISLAMABAD:  Prime Minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif said that government is working on a policy to overcome energy crisis, ARY News reported.

Chairing the Federal Cabinet meeting on current economic situation of the country in Islamabad on Wednesday, Nawaz Sharif said that reviving the economy of the country is the top most priority of the country.

The Prime Minister said that government is working to minimize line losses and to enhance transmission system. He said the energy crisis country facing today is the result of bad policies implemented in the past.

While briefing the Federal Cabinet, Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that the government is giving billion of subsidy to the public in various fields.

He added that discretionary funds of all the Federal Ministers including the Prime Minister have been ended completely, whereas 45 national institutions have been directed to cut short expenses.

The Finance Minister told that a committee has been formed regarding Islamic banking system in the country, while 75 billion rupees have been allocated for deserving people in the social sector.

Dar further mentioned that the budget deficit was reduced by an amount of Rs 120 billion during the last 5 months.
