PM directs to close shops, marriage functions early

According to details, the same pattern would be followed in Punjab to set an example for other provinces, saving hundreds of megawatts of electricity.

The decision was taken during the meeting of Cabinet Committee on Energy held in Islamabad on Wednesday.

PM Nawaz while chairing the meeting asked Ministry of Water and Power to launch awareness campaign among general masses regarding conservation of electricity.

The meeting also gave approval of energy audit and energy conservation awareness in industries to save their bills as well as consumption of electricity.

The Prime Minister also directed to complete Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) based projects within the prescribed timelines.

Sharif was informed that one LNG terminal has been set up while the second one would be ready next month. Both the plants have worth $1 billion investment from Pakistani companies.

The Prime Minister was also updated on the planned 1100-km North-South Gas pipeline which is expected to be completed in the first half of 2017.
