Federal cabinet session underway in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan is chairing a federal cabinet session in Islamabad here on Thursday, ARY News reported.

An 18-point agenda is under consideration in the session of the federal cabinet.

According to initial details, PM Khan was briefed on the progress of reformation agenda initiated by the federal government led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Approval for renewal of the Regular Public Transport (RPT) licence of AirBlue owned by former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will also be discussed in the session, sources said.

The endorsement of the decisions taken by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in its February 26 meeting, posting of a member production coordination in the Pakistan Ordnance of Factories Board (POFB), appointments of Member Production Control (MPC) in Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) and member ministerial coordination in Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) were included in the agenda.

Earlier on Wednesday, PM Khan had approved first-ever tariff policy recommended by the Ministry of Commerce devised after detailed consultation that was formulated on basis of transparency is being termed as an effective tool to simplify existing tariff structure.

The policy had been drafted by Commerce Division and National Tariff Commission to facilitate local manufacturers, including Small and Medium Enterprises.
