PM forms committee to resolve gas shortage issues for textile industry

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday constituted a committee to finalise proposals for settlement of the issue of gas shortage for textile industry in Punjab during winter months.

Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Ishaq Dar will head the committee. Other members of the Committee include Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Textile Industry Minister Abbas Khan Afridi.

In addition, representatives of textile industry identified by government of Punjab would also be included in the committee along with any other member co-opted by the Chair.

The Committee has been tasked with proposing mechanisms for sustainable gas supply to textile industry of Punjab in winter, for addressing low pressure of gas and for resolution of any other relevant issue.
