ISLAMABAD: Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood on Thursday announced to convert the Prime Minister House into a university, ARY News reported.

Addressing a press conference, the minister announced that PTI government is fulfilling its election pledge by converting the PM House into an educational institute of “top standard”

“Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided that he will not stay in the PM House and governors too will not stay in Governor House to cut down on costs,” he added.

He maintained that additional construction will also be carried out on the land behind the PM House after a formal plan is devised in this regard.

“The PM House is spread over 1,096 kanals and Rs 470 million are spent on its upkeep annually,” said Mehmood, who also heads a committee formed to decide how government-owned buildings could be utilised in public interest.
