MULTAN: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Saturday there is a need for national dialogue on matters such as the formation of a new province.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Multan-Shujabaad section of the Sukkur Multan motorway, Mr. Abbasi said making a new province was not possible without a consensus.

He lamented that sit-ins were staged and the government dragged through courts to destabilise the nation. He was of the view that despite difficulties, the PML-N government had worked for the improvement of the people, and completed the projects it had taken up.

Taking exception to PTI, PM said the PML-N did not wait for the ‘umpire’s signal’ since it had come into power.  “A free and fair government elected by the people will confront the challenges currently facing the country,” he added.

He said that PML-N had fulfilled its promised as it initiated new development projects and completed the pending ones despite facing tough times.

The premier also lashed out at Pakistan Peoples party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and said that he failed to complete the projects.

A 394 km long Multan-Sukkur motorway is completed at cost of Rs 294 billion under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and is part of 1156 km long mega project of Karachi-Lahore motorway.

It is a six-lane access controlled facility and will provide fast and easy communication between the cities of Multan and Shujabad.
