KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed the law enforcement agencies to step up targeted operation in Karachi, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presided over a meeting on the law and order situation in Karachi.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari also reached Governor House in Karachi to attend the top level meeting on the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Muttahida Qaumi Movement's Hyder Abbas Rizvi, Awami National Party's Shahi Sayed and Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman also attended the meeting.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has arrived in Karachi for a daylong visit to review law and order situation in the city.

The premier directed to step up the crackdown against criminals. He also directed for transferring anti-terrorism courts to Malir Cantonment or some other safe place in the city.

Nawaz said no pressure will be accepted over the operation. He said the operation has not been against anyone and added that the peace in the city will help the development of the country.

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Shareef, Director General of Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Zaheer ul Islam, Director General Rangers Sindh Rizwan Akhtar, the officials of intelligence agencies attended the meeting.
