The fleet tanker has been built with Turkish cooperation and will be effective in increasing Pakistan’s defence capabilities.

The design of the tanker was prepared by Turkish engineers and the ship was built at Karachi Ship yard.

PM Nawaz Sharif, addressing the ceremony, said that the newly constructed fleet tanker exemplifies the Pak-Turkey longstanding friendship.

“The construction of the warship fleet tanker will further expand the bilateral ties between the two countries,” PM Nawaz said.

The prime minister added that Pak-China Economic Corridor will play a key role in the region’s development.

“Gwadar will have a central role in the project,” he said.

Earlier, the prime minister arrived at Karachi Airport on his one-day visit of the port city. He was received by Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and the provincial Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

According to the PM’s schedule, he is expected to meet the families of slain qawwal Amjad Sabri and philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi at Governor House today.

PM Sharif will not chair any meeting regarding the law and order situation of the city. However, he has summoned all four chief ministers of the country in Islamabad on August 23rd for a meeting regarding the implementation of National Action Plan (NAP).
