PM Nawaz Sharif arrives in Azerbaijan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has arrived in Baku on three day state visit to Azerbaijan on Thursday.

This is the first visit of the Prime Minister to the country. He is visiting the  Balkan country on the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev.

He was received by Ali Ahmedov, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan on arrival at Hayder Aliyev International airport in Baku.

Several matters of mutual interests along with bilateral ties, economic cooperation and means of improving investment and trade will be discussed between the Pakistani and Azerbaijan delegations during the three-day visit.

The state visit reflects PM Sharif’s vision to boost Pakistan’s ties with the neighboring and regional states. The two countries have close ties which are highlighted by commonalities of faith, culture and history.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan also share common views on major international and regional issues and cooperate closely at regional and multilateral forums, including the United Nations, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
