ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilwal Bhutto on Tuesday reiterated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has lost all moral and legal grounds and should immediately offer his resignation.
Addressing media, the PPP chairman said that the prime minister should not wait to be pushed and be sent home, but should instead resign himself. He said the prime minister and his family submitted fabricated documents to the JIT.
Bilawal said that if Nawaz Sharif resigns then the entire cabinet has to go with him. “When I say the prime minister should resign, his entire government needs to go,” he said.
Bilawal said the party has reviewed the JIT report but it is the prerogative of the Supreme Court whether to indict the Prime Minister.
He said that Khursheed Shah has been tasked to approach other political parties and take them on board over the matter. The Leader of Opposition in National Assembly will also submit a requisition to call for a session of parliament on the issue.
PM Sharif faces a growing campaign to offer his resignation after a damning JIT report was submitted in the Supreme Court. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has called the both Sharif brothers to resign along with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq.
The Muttahida Quami Movement – Pakistan, Pak Sarzameen Party and Jamaat Islami have also echoed similar calls for the premier’s resignation.
