TOP NEWS

LAHORE: “We are a nuclear power. Soon we will bring to an end the menace of load-shedding,” said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while addressing a gathering to mark ‘Youm-e-Takbeer’ in Lahore today, ARY News reported.

Pakistan is the first and only Muslim country to achieve the status of a nuclear power after conducting  nuclear tests at Chaghai in Baluchistan on 28th May, 1998 as a response to India's nuclear bomb tests on 11th and 13th May of the same year at Pokhran in Rajhasthan state of India.

The prime minister said the politics of 80s’ and 90s’ will not work now. No one should indulge in politics on development projects, he added.

“What kind of atomic power it is where extremism, lawlessness, load-shedding is ruling all over,” asked the prime minister.

He said his visit to India was constructive and relations with the neighbour country were moving forward in the right direction.

He announced to initiate 10 plants in Gadani to generate electricity from coal, as well as buying a land for Karachi-Lahore motorway.
