PM Sharif felicitates Christian community on Christmas

ISLAMABAD: The Christian community in Pakistan and the rest of the world is celebrating Christmas to mark the birth of Jesus Christ. 

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain have extended heartiest felicitations and wished Merry Christmas to the Christian community in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister in his message on the occasion said that Jesus Christ was sent to this world as a symbol of peace, brotherhood and respect for the entire humanity.

“This day reminds us of the values that Jesus Christ lived in his own life. He not only healed the ailing humanity but preached the divine values of tolerance, love and compassion,” he said.

Christmas is a time for celebration with family and friends, warmth and cheerful moments and to reflect on the eternal massage of love, peace, tolerance and compassion for humanity.

He said that Muslims deeply revere Jesus Christ as one of the great messengers of Almighty Allah.

He said that the constitution of Pakistan safeguards the interests of minorities, and that the Quaid-e-Azam had declared a policy of equality for all communities irrespective of their religion, profession or ethnic origin.

PM Sharif said that the government is dedicated to preserve the sanctity of existence and equal opportunities and treats all minorities as citizens of Pakistan

He acknowledged the diverse and productive role played by the minorities particularly the Christian community for the socio-economic development of the country.  He appreciated their patriotism, devoted service and their role for peace, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
