PM Sharif inaugurates digitisation of Punjab police stations

LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated IT initiatives and Police Station reception desks at the office of Inspector General Punjab Police in Lahore on Saturday.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Prime Minister stressed the need to continue capacity building and modernisation of institutions. He said institutions can become stronger only if there is no hurdles in the way of introducing reforms.

The Prime Minister appreciated the IT initiatives and police receptions desks introduced in Punjab Police. However, he said a lot is still needed to improve the working of Police Stations to facilitate public.

He said provision of swift justice to the people is government’s primary responsibility and every measure is being taken in this regard. Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana and Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq were also present on the occasion.

CM Punjab pays tribute to martyred policemen 

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif  addressing the ceremony appreciated the reforms introduced in police system.

He paid rich tributes to police personnel who  have sacrificed their lives in war against terrorism. He said the prime minister’s package for the families of martyred police personnel is being implemented successfully.

Shahbaz Sharif said they had developed an Elite Force in 1998, which was regretfully given protocol duties by previous governments. He said counter terrorism department was established in 2013 which has played effective role against terrorism.

CM Punjab also appreciated the efforts of Punjab Police for holding final of PSL in Lahore in a peaceful manner.

IG Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera said that the registration of cases in police stations across Punjab will now be computerised to provide ease to the people.

He said the Punjab Police will spread the system across the country which will bring a revolutionary change in the law and order situation.
