PM Sharif, today, underwent a successful open-heart surgery at London’s Harley Street Clinic and was shifted to ICU. Upon regaining consciousness at 9 pm tonight, doctors allowed his wife and other family members to see the premier.
Meanwhile, scores of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers gathered outside the hospital amid heavy rain. They expressed heart-felt wishes for the premier before leaving after being informed about his well-being.
Earlier to this, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, PM’s daughter, confirmed that his cardiac surgery was a success.

Earlier, at 3.26pm (PST), Maryam posted a tweet saying grafting of vessels started an hour ago.

Meanwhile, Federal Information Minister Pervez Rasheed has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has undergone a successful open heart surgery.

He confirmed this news while addressing at an event in Islamabad.

Rasheed said people from across the world were praying for the PM’s speedy recovery. Prime Minister’s health means Pakistan’s health, he mentioned. “We pray to Allah to bring among us soon,” said the minister.
According to the family sources, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has advised party leaders and workers not to visit him at the hospital to save the medical facility from any likely disturbance in its work.
Earlier, Prime Minister’s spokesman Musaddiq Malik had said in a statement that the premier will remain in intensive care unit (ICU) for 24 hours after his surgery. He will later be moved to a hospital room.
Musaddiq Malik further stated that decision of PM Sharif’s return to country will be made after consultation with his doctors, adding, “The PM, however, did not let his ailment become a hurdle in the way of duties”.
The spokesman also expressed gratitude to all those who prayed for the recovery of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
