PM takes aerial view of flood-hit areas

The PM will also be briefed by officials concerned on the floods situation and devastations in its wake. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif also accompanied the prime minister.

More than 18o people have perished following flash floods due to heavy torrential rains in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Rain emergency has already been declared in the rain-hit province. Respective district administrations have also cancelled leaves of its employees to cope with any further disastrous situation.

Following the heavy downpours, more than 30 villages of Gujrat are feared to be inundated if the protective embankment of Head Marala was breached after the water level reaches 900,000 cusecs.

Punjab Disaster Management Authority has sought 100 new makeshift tents three boats to rescue and transport trapped people to safer locations.
