PM to host farewell dinner to Gen Raheel tonight

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will host the outgoing Army Chief General Raheel Sharif farewell dinner at the Prime Minister House tonight, ARY News reported.

Pakistan’s popular Chief of Army Staff Gen. Raheel Sharif retiring from his office on November 29.

Top political and military officials of the country will attend the farewell to pay tribute to Gen. Sharif on his services for the nation.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Gen. Raheel Sharif will also hold a one on one meeting for consultation over the appointment of the new COAS, sources said.

Prime Minister House has received a summary from the Ministry of Defence for nomination of the new Army Chief.

The prime minister will appoint the new Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Chief of Army Staff simultaneously. CJCSC General Rashad Mehmood also retiring from his office this week.

Lieutenant General Zubair Hayat has been the senior most among the four contenders also include Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal Ramday, Lieutenant General Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad and Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Lieutenant General Zubair Hayat presently holding Chief of General Staff office. Lieutenant General Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad has been Corps Commander of Multan.

Bahawalpur’s Corps Commander Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal Ramday and Inspector General of Training and Evaluation Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa are other two army generals named in the seniority list.
