PM wants launching of flood control program

Recent flood gives this lesson to the nation that we should devise a comprehensive flood control program, he said while addressing the flood victims in Wazirabad,

The PM said it was government’s priority to adopt measures to contain losses in the wake of natural calamities and other disasters. He was of the view that climate changes were affecting the entire region.

He said each flood-hit family will be given Rs 25,000 each after assessment of losses. The compensation will be paid before the Eid, he announced.

He said the time had arrived to take steps to stop damages inflicted due to floods.

The prime minister said government needed to take measures despite limited resources. Adopting measures to contain floods-related losses will require billions of rupees, he added.

He said the government would not sit with patience until floods victims were completely rehabilitated. The flood-hit people should not consider themselves alone, government will not left them to fend for themselves, added the PM.

He praised Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz for his performance and alertness in taking measures to contain floods devastation.

Amid the speech of the prime minister, considerable number of flood victims chanted slogans ‘Go Nawaz Go’ outside the hall for not being given financial and other assistance despite promises by the government.
