PML-N gears up to save Geo-Jang group
ISLAMABAD: In an attempt to restore tarnished public image of Geo and Jang group in the country, the PML-N has geared up to play its part to support the beleaguered media house, ARY News reported Monday.
Sources informed that PML-N has devised a full straetgy to support Geo TV and restore its image.
Countrywide protests and rallies are being held almost on daily basis against Geo/Jang group when it blamed the prime intelligence of the country, ISI, in connection to attack on journalist Hamid Mir on April 20 in Karachi without any proof. Geo group also committed a blasphemy act when they ran manaqabat (religious poetry) in reenactment of Veena Malik’s wedding in its morning show and danced on it, thus hurting religious sentiments of millions of viewers across the country and abroad.
In a latest development, Federal Information Minister Pervez Rasheed and political analyst-cum-columnist of Jang group Irfan Siddiqui met with Geo/Jang group owner Mir Shakeelur Rehman in Dubai and the meeting lasted for over 18 hours.
Matters related to restoring Geo’s image and tendering apology were also discussed. Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has been assigned the responsibility in Punjab to restore Geo reputation.
The meeting discussed framing of apology letter and the way it should be crafted.
Key PML-N leaders are also in constant touch with Jang-Geo group owner.
