MUZAFFARABAD: Demonstrating solidarity with people of Occupied Kashmir, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday expressed a desire of holding public office in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) following his ouster as the premier.

Addressing a public speech at the Muzaffarabad University College Ground, Sharif said he is no more among the qualified/eligible persons in Pakistan for a public office but qualified for AJK.

“My duty should be assigned here until a decision is prepared on my disqualification in Pakistan,” the PML-N supremo said.

Sharif said several development projects were in pipeline and the country was progressing but he was removed from his seat. “Had I not been dismissed, the people of AJK would have had jobs, justice and education,” he added.

The PML-N supremo said his all plans were spoiled after his dismissal. “The youth of AJK are as dear to me as rest of Pakistan’s youth,” he underlined.

On the occasion, he said no court verdict could break his relation with the masses while reminding the participants that he has a blood relation with them.

Calling for the sanctity of vote, Sharif promised to build Muzaffarabad and increase the AJK’s development budget. “We will build a motorway from here [Muzaffarabad] to Mirpur Dina and Mansehra,” he further said.

In his message on Kashmir Solidarity Day, the former premier said the entire nation shares the grief of Kashmiri people as the hearts of people in Pakistan and Kashmir beat together.

“Whenever a freedom fighter embraces martyrdom [in occupied Kashmir], his body is wrapped in Pakistani flag,” he added.

Sharif seeks public support to rescind SC’s verdict in Panama Papers case

On Sunday, ousted premier Nawaz Sharif asked people to vote for the PML-N in upcoming General Elections 2018 to fortify the parliament and rescind the Supreme Court’s landmark July 28 verdict, resulting in Sharif’s ousters for life in the Panama Papers case.

“Do you approve of my deposition for life? Can this verdict break relation between you and me? Cast vote in the PML-N’s favor in 2018, so that such laws could be amended by the parliament to reverse court decision,” he said while addressing a rally in Peshawar.

The Supreme Court had disqualified Nawaz Sharif in a unanimous verdict in the Panamagate case last year.

Nawaz said the court of masses had announced verdict in favour of him and other PML-N leaders Daniyal Aziz and Talal Chaudhry.

“Daniyal and Talal were summoned for contempt of court, however the court of people has announced verdict in their favor in all the notices including my deposition,” he then said.
