The PML-N minister didn’t specify any reasons for the resignation. But added that he had already informed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif about his concerns.

Reports were going rounds for some time that Baloch has differences with a few PML-N leaders who were intervening in his ministry.

Baloch is a senior Karachi-based politician who was elected on a PML-N ticket from the NA-258, a constituency comprising rural and coastal parts of Malir District and Landhi Industrial Area. He had defeated Raja Abdul Razzaq of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Before joining the PML-N, Baloch was a key leader of the PPP in Karachi and served as provincial minister and Karachi District Council’s chairman.

However, in the 2002 general election, he developed differences over the allotment of tickets with the party and formed a Malir-based electoral alliance against the PPP candidates.

In the 2008 polls, he contested election on a PPP ticket for PS-126, Gadap Town, but lost to Faisal Sabzwari of the MQM.
