LAHORE: Newly elected MPAs belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) created ruckus outside Punjab Assembly by sloganeering and trying to bring in pictures of former premier Nawaz Sharif, ARY News reported.

The PML-N’s lifelong leader Mian Nawaz Sharif was ousted as premier last year and is now serving jail time in compliance with an accountability court in Avenfield reference case.

As the Punjab Assembly session was summoned today, some of PML-N MPAs tried to bring in Nawaz Sharif’s pictures. When stopped, the MPAs started raising slogans in favour of their lifelong leader and his daughter Maryam Nawaz.

One of the MPAs tied himself with chains to protest against alleged political victimisation of Sharif family.

The party which also failed in its bid to form government in the province despite having 127 seats in the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday nominated Hamza Shehbaz for the coveted post of Punjab Chief Minister, an election he will likely lost to a PTI nominee.

The PA will hold elections for the slots of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly tomorrow, August 16, after which the new chief minister will be elected.

PTI, which claims to hold majority in the PA, has so far only nominated Dost Muhammad Mazari for the post of Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly.
