KARACHI: At least five people were injured when a minor explosion hit Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Sindh’s celebrations over the Panamagate verdict in Karachi, ARY News reported on Friday.

As the court announced its verdict in the high profile case against the members of the ruling Sharif family on Thursday April 20, the PML-N workers started celebrating their party’s “victory” at Karachi’s Five Star Chowrangi, during which a fireworks explosion occurred, injuring five people.

The celebrations were halted and the injured were moved to nearby hospitals while police reached the spot and arrested five workers of the party.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan announced the Panama case verdict today. The 549-page judgment says there was insufficient evidence to order Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s removal from office.

The bench orders formation of a JIT to continue the investigation against the Sharif family. Nawaz Sharif and his sons Hussain and Hasan have been directed to appear before the JIT.
