LAHORE: In order to seek divine intervention to keep deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s journey safe and secure in the wake of GT Road rally, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supporters sacrificed five goats, four of them black, in the provincial capital, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

According to our correspondent Almas Khan, the ruling party activists in a bid to seek Nawaz Sharif’s protection during his journey from Islamabad to Lahore, sacrificed goats early today before ousted PM embarked on GT Road rally.

Early today, former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif departed for Lahore in a cavalcade via the historic Grand Trunk (GT) road amid all kinds of security risks and other challenges.

The ruling party supremo is expected to address his workers and supporters at various stopovers during his travel route to Lahore at different cities including Gujrat, Jhelum and Gujranwala.

Following the Lahore blast, he insisted to continue with his planned Lahore visit despite security concerns while talking to reporters at Punjab House here on Tuesday as what he said: “I will not wait for situation to become normal as I have right to go home.”

He was reportedly warned against proceeding to Lahore by road by some of the senior party leaders including his brother, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and the party stalwart Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
