RAWALPINDI: Activists of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday assailed an ARY News team and sabotaged its DSNG van in Rawalpindi, ARY News reported.

The PML-N workers broke side glass of the van and threatened the news channel staff. They surrounded the staff and reporter for about 10 to 15 minutes.

ARY News correspondent Jahangir Aslam said they were heading towards Lal Haveli, political centre of the Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, when the baton-wielding PML-N supporters attacked them in front of an office of the political party on Marri Road.

“Only two policemen were present on this occasion who failed to stop the hoodlums, however, later two more police personnel joined them and escorted the ARY News team,” he said.

It is pertinent here to mention that the ARY News team had been covering bye-elections in different parts of Rawalpindi since morning.
