According to unofficial results PML-N’s Ismail Rahu won by over 2000 votes margin grabbing over all 44,803 votes. Rival candidate Mohammad Nawaz Chandio bagged 42,814 votes.

The PS-59 seat fell vacant after PML-N candidate Ismail Rahu had filed a rigging petition in election tribunal against winning PPP rival Nawaz Chandio. The tribunal ordered re-election in the constituency.

PPP candidate challenged the verdict in Supreme Court but the apex court withheld tribunal’s decision and directed to hold elections at 37 disputed polling stations.

Elaborate security arrangements were made by the district government with deployment of police and Rangers personnel inside and outside the polling stations.

PML-N Sindh leader Senator Nihal Hashmi has called the party victory a defeat to the ‘corruption mafia’.

PML-N supporters celeberated the victory with dance and distributed sweets.
